На чисто с Wal-Mart

NEW YORK, Feb 10 (Reuters) – After a strong start to the year for the overall stock market, blue-chip companies International Paper Co. (nyse: IP – news – people), DuPont Co. (nyse: IP – news – people) and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (nyse: IP – news – people) are a bit pricey, according to the Parker Center for Investment Research.

So far this year, Wal-Mart is up more than 7 percent, but International Paper and DuPont are both down. Even so, the center says the two are richly priced.

Overall, however, the Dow Jones Industrial Average <.DJI> remained fairly valued in January after gaining just 0.3 percent last month and climbing about 25 percent in 2003, according the center’s research.

The Parker Center for Investment Research, which performs the analysis monthly, is an academic think tank and research institute housed at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.

The center’s analysts calculate the intrinsic value of the Dow average by using time-varying discount interest rates and forward-looking earnings forecasts from sell-side research.
